Jagan Mohan Reddy starts review of election results
YSRC to continue as “voice of the voiceless”
VIJAYAWADA: YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has started a review of the election results. He is trying to identify the reasons for the huge defeat his party suffered this time.
The former chief minister remains calm and composed. He is collecting the opinions of party candidates and leaders and aims at rejuvenating the party from grass root levels.
The rank and file of the YSRC are still in shock over the unexpected debacle that saw the party winning only 11 MLA seats. In view of the low Assembly strength, even the opposition leader status might elude the YSRC this time. A strength of 18 MLAs is the minimum requirement for a party to get this status in the legislature.
On Wednesday, former ministers Dharmana Krishna Das, Dharmana Prasada Rao and Kottu Satyanarayana, ex-MLAs Anna Rambabu, Annatha Venkatram Reddy and Tellam Balaraju, MLC Reddy Santhi, Rajya Sabha member Mopidevi Venkataramana and others met Jagan Mohan Reddy in the party office at Tadepalli.
Earlier, Botsa Satyanarayana, Gudivada Amarnath, Vanga Geetha, Pushpasri Vani and others met the party chief. A majority of these leaders deplored the disgraceful defeat for the party despite the flawless implementation of all the welfare schemes and the government fulfilling 99 per cent of its Navaratnalu promises.
Senior leaders recalled that all the leaders were mingling with the masses for the past two years, reaching up to every doorstep and doing all the needy works in wards under the Gadapa Gadapuku programme. They said they were intrigued as to how the party faced such a hard defeat.
They felt that, it was likely the Navaratnalu Plus 2.0 failed to attract the masses and the Super Six manifesto of the Telugu Desam and Jana Sena was found to be more impressive to the voters.
Jagan Mohan Reddy explained that the YSRC still has 40 per cent public support. Hence, the leaders should keep projecting the positive sides of the party to win the support of more people for a rejuvenation of the YSRC, he stressed.
The former CM said a detailed review of the causes of defeat and the ground situations will be held and a future course of action finalised. He asked the YSRC leaders to be the voice of the voiceless, continue the fight on public issues and win the hearts and minds of the masses.
