Tirupati: Ahead of the agricultural season, the Jal Shakti Abhiyan (JSA) is set to review water conservation projects undertaken in the Nellore district. Kumar Patnaik, joint secretary of the JSA, will visit the district on Thursday to inspect works implemented under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).

During a meeting with agriculture and allied department officials on Wednesday, Patnaik outlined his plans to personally assess the progress of watershed development, tank restoration, and pond rejuvenation initiatives undertaken through the JSA program.
A key focus of the review will be the impact of these projects on groundwater levels. Patnaik emphasized evaluating whether Jal Shakti Abhiyan has contributed to increased groundwater availability in the region.
Based on his findings, he intends to propose recommendations for further enhancing groundwater recharge through JSA activities. The meeting, held at Sankaran Hall in the Nellore collectorate, was attended by joint collector Sethu Madhavan, DWMA project director B. Srinivasan, district agriculture and allied department officials including Satyavani (Agriculture), Srinivasa Reddy (Forestry), Subba Reddy (Horticulture), Shoban Babu (Groundwater), and other members of the District Water Management Authority (DWMA).
