KAKINADA: Kakinada Rural MLA Pantham Venkateswara Rao (Nanaji) of Jana Sena assaulted and abused in filthy language senior doctor of Rangaraya Medical College (RNC) Dr. P. Uma Maheswara Rao on Saturday evening.

According to sources, many outsiders have been visiting the grounds of RMC to play volleyball and betting on these games. The outsiders even prevented RMC students from using the ground. Girl students of the RMC stopped going to the grounds due to misbehaviour of the outsiders.

When RMC students complained to the college principal, officials stopped outsiders from entering the college grounds. However, area MLA Pantham Nanaji put pressure on RMC officials to allow the outsiders into the college grounds.

On Saturday evening, Nanaji came to the RMC grounds along with his followers, abused and assaulted senior doctor Uma Maheswara Rao present on the ground. The MLA and his followed also assaulted students.

Following this, Medical Education additional director Dr. D. S. V. L. Narasimham lodged a complaint with Kakinada superintendent of police Vikrant Patil. He requested police officials to take necessary action against the MLA and his followers as per law.

Sarpavram police have registered a case against the MLA and his followers.

The Dalit Association has decided to agitate by taking out a procession demanding the arrest of the MLA and his followers. Many Jana Sena activists have also condemned the incident. They maintain that the act of the MLA is against the principles of Jana Sena chief and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.

Meanwhile, accused MLA Nanaji went to the RMC and said sorry to the doctor and students whom he had assaulted.
