Jana Sena MLA Nanaji to Atone for Beating Doctor
Kakinada: Jana Sena MLA of Kakinada Assembly rural constituency Pantham Venkateswara Rao (Nanaji) will take up an atonement initiation (Prayashyitha Deeksha) at his residence from 10 am to 4 pm on Monday in the aftermath of abusing and beating of a professor of Rangaraya Medical College and forensic head of Government General Hospital at Kakinada on Saturday night.
He convened a Telugu Desam and Jana Sena workers’ meeting on Sunday and said he went to the RMC grounds to settle the volleyball court issue, but some of the followers provoked him on the issue and he committed a mistake. He said he has already said Rs `sorry’’ to the professor, students and the officials of RMC for the incident last night. He would take up an atonement initiation at his residence. Rs I behaved in a way that no MLA or public representative should behave and I should take up "Prayaschitha’’ deeksha to atone my mistake’’ he said.
"When Pawan Kalyan is initiating ‘Prayashitha Deeksha’ for someone’s mistake in Tirupathi Laddu case, I am doing this Deeksha for my wrong doing’’ he said. Former MLA Pilli Anantha Lakshmi, Telugu Desam senior leader Pilli Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Murthy and others were present.
Meanwhile, some of the influential personalities in Kakinada city contacted RMC officials on Sunday and consoled the victim Professor Dr Uma Mahenswara Rao and held discussions regarding the case. Some of them asked him to withdraw the cases against JS MLA as he said Rs `sorry’’ to him openly.
Samajika Nyaya Sadhana Samithi condemned the act of the Jana Sena MLA Pantham Nanaji. The Samithi demanded the government should take action to ensure that such actions is not repeated.
The samithi president Dr Bhanumathi, general secretary Naveen Raj, associate president Dr Moka Pawan Kukar, chief advisors Jawahar Ali, Ayithabathula Rameswara Rao and others said the MLA degraded his status and made an unruly behavior against the doctor. They demanded police should file a criminal case under SC, ST Atrocities Prevention Act and arrest him.
