 Kurnool: Kurnool collector P. Ranjit Basha stressed the importance of implementing strict measures to prevent the use of ganja and drugs, particularly along the borders with Telangana and Karnataka.

Speaking at the district coordination committee meeting on Wednesday, he urged officials from the forest and agriculture departments to monitor the potential cultivation of cannabis as an intercrop and report any findings to the police. The collector directed officials to keep a close watch on buses and bus stations within the district.

SP G. Bindu Madhav highlighted efforts to raise awareness about drug use among youth, explaining that hoardings have been placed in strategic locations and educational programmes have been conducted in 30 government colleges and 44 private colleges. Students have been thoroughly informed about the NDPS Act. Assistant trainee collector Challa Kalyani, SEB assistant enforcement superintendent Vinod Kumar, and other officials were also present at the meeting.
