Legal Awareness Programme Held for Workers in Kurnool

Kurnool: A legal awareness programme for Anganwadi workers, employees working in shops, and those working in companies were organized at the DLSA conference hall here on Wednesday. Addressing the gathering, secretary of the Kurnool District Legal Services Authority, B. Leela Venkata Seshadri, highlighted the importance of “same pay for the same work.”
“Women should work till 7 pm only, and the workers should receive wages by the 7th of every month. Besides, those earning less than Rs 3 lakh annually, including women, labourers, and the members belonging to SC/ST community are eligible for free legal aid,” said Seshadri, adding, these workers should complete their KYC and obtain an e-Shram card, which offers Rs 2 lakh accident claim benefits.

Seshadri also recommended that people in the age bracket of 18 to 40 years can avail the PM Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) pension card scheme. “Under the scheme, a person can get monthly pension of Rs 3,000 after he or she attains the age of 60,” he said. Chairperson of the District Child Welfare Committee, S. Jubaida Begum, District Child Protection officer T. Sarada and other officials attended the event.
