 Kurnool: A chilling incident unfolded in the early hours of Tuesday morning when a leopard was captured on CCTV footage prowling the compound of Srisailam Devasthanam assistant executive officer (AEO) Mohan’s residence.

The big cat was seen attempting to seize a dog as it navigated the wall of a house on Patalganga Road.The shocking visuals from the surveillance cameras have sent shockwaves through the local community, underscoring the growing concern about wildlife venturing into populated areas.

Forest department officials were immediately alerted and have rushed to the spot to assess the situation and take necessary measures.

New women's OPD opens at Adoni GGH

Adoni sub-collector Shiv Narayan Sharma officially opened a new women's outpatient department (OPD) at the Adoni Government General Hospital on Tuesday.

The hospital, which was upgraded from a 100-bed facility to a full-fledged general hospital last year, had been facing challenges due to the lack of corresponding outpatient services.

The newly inaugurated OPD aims to address this gap and provide better healthcare access for women patients. Hospital superintendent Dr Sri Ramulu, RMO Dr Padma Kumar, and other hospital officials were present at the inauguration ceremony.

Nandyal police crackdown on illicit liquor and gambling

A concerted effort by Nandyal district police to curb illicit liquor and gambling activities has yielded significant results.

In a series of raids conducted across various police station limits, authorities seized 330 litres of liquor, including 18 litres of distilled palm liquor.

A total of seven cases were registered in connection with these seizures.

Furthermore, police initiated a crackdown on drunk driving, resulting in 11 cases being registered. Additionally, 69 individuals were booked for consuming alcohol in public places.

In a separate operation, police in Atmakur sub-division apprehended 14 individuals involved in card gambling and seized Rs 40,310 in cash.

Traffic enforcement also saw a surge in activity, with authorities registering 163 cases under the Motor Vehicle Act and collecting fines amounting to Rs 56,100.

Joint raids conducted by Atmakur SEB station personnel and civil police in Siddapuram and surrounding areas led to the seizure of approximately 600 liters of litres of jaggery and 10 litres of illicit liquor were destroyed, and a case was registered.
