Let’s join hands to make Nandyal drug-free: Nandyal Collector

Kurnool: Nandyal district collector Dr. K. Srinivasulu called upon people, particularly educationists, social activists and voluntary organisations, to join hands in making Nandyal a drug-free district.
Speaking at a programme organised by police department on the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on Wednesday, he advised youth not to spoil their lives by getting addicted to drugs.
Collector Srinivasulu and SP K. Raghuveer Reddy flagged off a procession from the municipal office in which participants raised slogans and displayed placards about the dangers of drug abuse. The procession went on till Sreenivasa Centre, covering various streets and junctions.
The collector asked parents to monitor their children for any change in attitude or behaviour.
On the occasion, SP Raghuveer Reddy announced formation of special teams to control drug-related activities in the district. He underlined that their main intention is to guide youth in becoming responsible individuals, who maintain a distance from antisocial elements.
The SP unveiled plans of a 100-day programme wherein awareness camps and motivation drives will be conducted in educational institutions across the district. The programme is aimed at creating a drug-free environment and promoting responsible behaviour among youth.
