SVU organises NTR silver jubilee celebrations
Tirupati:The silver jubilee celebrations of Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao's (NTR) film career were held at the Senate Hall of Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) in Tirupati on Monday, marking 75 years since the release of his debut film Mana Desam on November 24, 1949. The event was organised by the Mahabodhi Sahitya Vedika, led by Dr. G. Bala Subramanyam.
Titled NTR Cinegeya Gosthi – Vajrotsava Vedukalu, the ceremony began with a lamp-lighting ritual and tributes to NTR's cinematic legacy. Distinguished attendees included SVU vice-chancellor Prof. Chippada Appa Rao, Puthalapattu MLA Dr. Kalikiri Murali Mohan, SVU Registrar Prof. Madala Bhupathi Naidu, chief speaker V.A.K. Rangarao, Prof. Satya Vani, and NTR researcher Dasannagari Krishnamurthy.
Speakers highlighted NTR’s monumental contribution to Indian cinema, particularly his portrayal of cultural and traditional themes. They praised his ability to address societal issues and inspire audiences through his roles. The panel shared anecdotes from Mana Desam and other iconic films such as Mayabazar and Dana Veera Sura Karna, which showcased NTR’s powerful portrayals of Lord Rama and Lord Krishna.
