Vijayawada: IT and Electronics Minister, Nara Lokesh, has urged Foxconn to set up a ‘mega manufacturing city’ in AP and promised full governmental support.
A Foxconn delegation led by its Indian representative V Lee called on the minister here on Monday. Lokesh explained in detail the resources in AP that would help the firm to have its operations in the state. “The state would come up with a new electronic policy soon,” Lokesh said.
The Taiwanese firm is among the largest electronics manufacturing firms in the world that has interests/investments in multiple fields including electronic vehicles.
The minister said, “As you are planning to expand your activities across India, I welcome you and urge you to set up a ‘mega manufacturing city’ in AP. We would provide you with the necessary help and support.”
He noted that Foxconn, as also many other industries, had set up their units in AP during the previous TD term.
“Our government aims to provide two crore jobs to the youth,” Lokesh said.

He said Foxconn has several units across the globe and plans to expand its activities in the country. “We are interested in the setting up of an electric vehicles manufacturing unit, as also semiconductor, digital health and manufacturing component units in AP.”
Along with V. Lee, Foxconn chairman’s office director Senthil Kumar, deputy director Bharat Dandi, manager Vector Chen, associate manager Hannah Wang and AP’s IT and electronics principal secretary Saurabh Gaur took part in the meeting.
