Low fund for education sector poor in Budget: Former minister Adimulapu Suresh
Vijayawada: Former Minister Adimulapu Suresh criticized the coalition government for neglecting the education sector, pointing out the disarray of key educational schemes that are negatively impacting students' futures. Speaking to the media at the party's central office on Friday, Suresh highlighted the government's failure to allocate sufficient funds for major programs like Gorumudda and Vidya Kanuka , which were introduced under the previous YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government.
He warned that the coalition government's mismanagement was causing government schools to deteriorate, particularly affecting marginalized communities like SCs, STs, BCs, and minorities who depend on these institutions.
Suresh also revealed that schemes such as Vidya Deevena and Vasathi Deevena have pending payments of over Rs 5,000 crore, depriving students of essential support. He condemned the budget allocations, saying they do not align with promises made during the elections. He also criticized the dismantling of the Nadu-Nedu program, which had modernized 45,000 government schools by providing digital boards, clean drinking water, and tablets loaded with Byju's content. Suresh further condemned the underfunding of the Talliki Vandanam scheme, which has received less than half of the promised Rs 12,450 crore.
