Visakhapatnam: The TD-led NDA alliance is yet to decide on its candidate for the Visakhapatnam district MLC, though only two days are remaining for filing the nomination.

While the selection of the NDA candidate is pending, YSRC candidate Botsa Satyanarayana has publicly declared his intention to file his nomination on Monday, August 12.

NDA has support from 250 of the 838 voters in the by-election. NDA needs at least 200 more votes to win the MLC seat comfortably.

TD leaders claim that several YSRC MPTCs, councillors, corporators and ZPTC members are interested in becoming TD members before the by-election. They are expecting that announcement of the candidate will be made on Monday.

A committee comprising home minister Vangalapudi Anitha, TD MLAs Palla Srinivasa Rao, Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy, JS MLA Panchakarla Rameshbabu and BJP MLA Vishnu Kumar Raju has been formed to study the existing situation before finalising the choice of their candidate.
