Visakhapatnam: NMDC Steel Limited's Nagarnar facility near Jagdalpur received electrification of its railway siding. The development marks a crucial step in enhancing the plant's logistics capabilities on the Kottavalasa Kirandul (KK) line.

The 25KV AC overhead power supply system and sub-sectioning and paralleling post were jointly commissioned by Saurabh Prasad, Divisional Railway Manager of Waltair, East Coast Railway, and K Praveen Kumar, Executive Director and Head of NMDC Steel Limited's Nagarnar plant.
"This electrification will enable seamless movement of freight trains and improve mobility through faster turnarounds," said Saurabh Prasad during the commissioning ceremony. He emphasized that the upgrade would facilitate increased transportation of both raw materials and finished goods, supporting the scaling up of production at the Nagarnar Steel Plant, which began operations in October 2023.
The railway authorities are also planning additional improvements to streamline operations in the Jagdalpur area. These include enhancing rail connectivity from the Amagura-Anbagaon take-off point and increasing the deployment of railway crew and train safety examiners at Nagarnar.
