Kakinada: Former Kakinada Rural MLA and YSRC Kakinada district president Kurasala Kannababu criticised the alliance government in the state for failing to bring festive cheer to the people, particularly the poor, during this Sankranti season. He pointed to skyrocketing prices of essential commodities, increased electricity tariffs, and the lack of welfare schemes, which have left the poor unable to celebrate the festival.

Speaking to the media on Sunday, Kannababu accused the ruling coalition of celebrating Sankranti only among its leaders while ignoring the common people. He alleged that flagship programs like Ammavodi and Rythu Bharosa have been neglected, and schemes like Talliki Vandanam delayed. He contrasted this with the YSRC tenure, during which welfare funds were disbursed before Sankranti, enabling even the poorest households to celebrate the festival.

Kannababu also raised concerns about transparency in TTD operations, questioning the involvement of unqualified individuals and the misuse of visitor data. He demanded accountability and explanations from the government.

Refuting the claims of Human Resources Minister N. Lokesh regarding industrial stagnation, Kannababu highlighted YSRC's achievements, including the Greenko Renewable Energy Project and the establishment of multiple industrial clusters despite pandemic challenges. He dismissed Lokesh’s allegations that industrialists fear investing in the state as baseless and unsubstantiated.

Kannababu expressed concern that rural families, once supported by YSRC’s welfare initiatives, are now facing financial distress and despair under the current government.
