VIJAYAWADA: Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan met with Union home minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Wednesday for a 25-minute discussion. This was Pawan Kalyan’s first visit to New Delhi after assuming office as Deputy Chief Minister.

According to reliable sources, Pawan Kalyan and Amit Shah discussed the political landscape and the current financial situation in Andhra Pradesh. Sources also revealed that Amit Shah proposed that Pawan Kalyan campaign for BJP coalition candidates in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections, particularly in the Dharmabad region, which has a significant Telugu-speaking population. It is worth noting that the BJP leadership had previously considered involving Pawan Kalyan in the Karnataka Assembly election campaign.

Additionally, sources indicated that Pawan Kalyan may have raised concerns about the law and order situation in Andhra Pradesh, especially in light of his recent criticisms of state home minister Vangalapudi Anitha over police inaction and rising crimes against women, as expressed in a meeting in Pithapuram. They also suggested that discussions might have included issues related to the Saraswati Power Company, particularly regarding land allocations and the company's failure to provide promised jobs to locals. In a tweet shared on his X (formerly Twitter) profile, Pawan Kalyan wrote, “Thank you, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, for your support for the people of AP and their development.”
