Permanent Solution to be Found for Inundation Problem: Pawan

 KAKINADA: Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has said the government would come up with a permanent solution to stop inundation from the Yeleru and Suddagadda reservoirs. Pawan Kalyan visited flood-affected areas in Gollaprolu mandal by boat along with district collector S Shan Mohan, SP Vikranth Patil, Panchayat Raj director Krishna Teja, Kakinada Rural MLA Nanaji, and former Pithapuram MLA Varma. They interacted with residents of the Jagananna Colony.

PK told the media that the district collector would evacuate the people from low-lying areas and flood-affected villages to safer places. “I would find a solution to Suddagadda Vagu,” he said.

The deputy CM said the previous government had committed several blunders in the name of Jagananna Colonies and hence the people incurred great losses. “We would rectify the errors.”

He alleged that the previous government purchased land for Jagananna Colony at the rate of `60 lakh per acre when the actual rate was only Rs 30 lakh. “I am unwell, but came here to know to know the problems of the people directly. My responsibility as minister is to help the Panchayats,” he said.

Speaking about action against illegal constructions at Budameru, Pawan Kalyan said many who have purchased the sites at Budameru without ascertaining facts. The government should hold talks with such victims before resorting to HYDRAA type demolitions, he said.

The deputy CM stressed the need for creating awareness among those trying constructions near the rivulets, canals, rivers and reservoirs. “It will take some time to recover from the flood disaster in Vijayawada. This is a natural calamity,” he noted.
