Vijayawada: Urban Development Minister Ponguru Narayana said on Saturday that the state government has prepared designs to develop roads in the Seed Capital area, connecting them directly to national highways.
“The government has finalised designs to connect E11 and E13 with NH16, enabling vehicles to travel at speeds of up to 100km per hour on these roads. Similarly, designs will be prepared to extend the E15 road up to NH16,” he stated.
These projects, he said, would be executed with a futuristic vision, with due regard to the region's requirements for the next 30 years.
The minister said the construction of these roads would be undertaken without causing much inconvenience to the public. He urged those whose homes and other installations are to be demolished for the project, to cooperate with the government.
During a tour of Amaravati, Narayana visited Mangalagiri, Navalur and Yerrabalem villages and reviewed the latest designs prepared by Lee Associates to extend the E11 and E13 roads in Amaravati up to National Highway 16.
He also inspected the under-construction flyover across the Krishna river, a part of the ongoing Vijayawada West bypass works at Venkatapalem. The bypass passing through Amaravati would include intersections at a distance of every kilometre, he said, and urged NHAI to expedite the work.
Narayana said 16 roads from the east to the west and 18 roads from the north to the south would be developed in the Amaravati core capital area. These span 217sq-km.
The urban development minister said the government would construct the roads through forest lands to minimise damage to private properties. He asked local-level people’s representatives to meet residents whose properties would be affected, seek their cooperation and assure them of adequate government assistance.
Narayana claimed that the alliance government gave administrative sanctions for infrastructure works worth Rs 22,000 crore in Amaravati. An additional Rs 20,000 crore worth of projects would be approved during the upcoming CRDA meeting, he said.
