Vijayawada: The Guntur district police have arrested four individuals in connection with an attack on a family at the JCH Paradise II apartments on Inner Ring Road in Guntur city, which occurred under the Nallapadu police station limits on October 31.

Disclosing the case details to the media at the district police office conference hall on Sunday, Guntur Superintendent of Police (SP) S. Satish Kumar stated that the police had apprehended the prime accused, Kankara Narendra Reddy, along with three other suspects for attacking the complainant, Gudibandla Soniya, her son Avinash, and his friend Jayadev on Deepawali night at their residence.

The SP explained that Narendra Reddy and the other accused—David, Ravi Teja, Siva, Sayed Anish, Fayaz, and Venkat—attacked the complainant, her son, and another victim with sticks while verbally abusing them with caste-based insults. The attack took place on the evening of October 31, allegedly in response to firecrackers set off by the complainant and her son landing on the premises of JSSR Nivas, where the accused reside.

Based on a complaint filed by G. Soniya, the Nallapadu police registered a case, initiated an investigation, and arrested four of the accused, while a search is ongoing to locate the remaining suspects, the SP stated.

SP Satish Kumar emphasised that strict action would be taken against anti-social and rowdy elements involved in unlawful activities, which disturb law and order and disrespect women in society.

The SP also commended Guntur South DSP P. Mallikarjuna Rao, Nallapadu CI K. Vamsidhar, and the station staff for their efforts in apprehending the accused in this case.
