Tirupati: Political tensions have escalated in Tirupati as police issued notices to YSRCP MP Peddireddy Venkat  Mithun Reddy, instructing him to cancel his planned visit to the area. This development comes in the wake of recent events where TDP workers blocked former YSRC minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy's visit to the same region.

As news of the MP's intended visit spread, large numbers of YSRCP party workers and leaders began mobilizing to meet Mithun Reddy. However, their efforts were thwarted as police took preemptive action, detaining several YSRCP leaders across various mandals of the Punganur constituency.
Reports suggest that YSRCP workers are being threatened with legal action if they attempt to enter Punganur. This has led to widespread criticism from YSRCP supporters, who are accusing the TDP government of imposing unwarranted restrictions on an elected representative visiting his own constituency.
The situation on the ground remains tense, with police establishing a 100-meter perimeter around the MP's residence in Tirupati, preventing party workers and leaders from reaching him. Police officials have cited security concerns as the reason for their actions, but the YSRCP maintains that these measures are politically motivated.
YSRCP workers argue that these actions infringe upon democratic rights and the freedom of movement for elected officials. They contend that preventing an MP from visiting his constituency sets a dangerous precedent for political interference.
Meanwhile, Mithun Reddy has accused the TDP of resorting to physical violence and intimidation tactics in the Pungannur Assembly and Rajampet Parliamentary constituencies following the recent election results.
He described the situation as "dire", claiming that the TDP is introducing a new culture of violence in Pungannur. He alleged that JCB machines are being used to demolish homes of the poor, calling it a horrific act.
The MP criticized the police for preventing him from visiting and consoling affected party workers in his constituency. He plans to bring this matter to the attention of the Lok Sabha Speaker.
