Poor Visibility Delays Flights at Vizag Airport

Visakhapatnam: Adverse weather conditions at the Visakhapatnam airport, including heavy rainfall and poor visibility, have been delaying flights from and to the city since Friday night. Flights from Bengaluru and Hyderabad suffered delays on Sunday. Bengaluru-Visakhapatnam flight scheduled to arrive in the morning suffered delays and eventually landed in Vizag at 12:10 p.m.

Other flights affected include Visakhapatnam-Hyderabad, Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam, and Visakhapatnam to Bengaluru, airport director S. Raja Reddy disclosed. Indigo Airlines has announced that it will launch four new services from Visakhapatnam in September and October.

Andhra Pradesh Air Travellers’ Association representatives Kumar Raja, D.S. Verma, and O. Naresh Kumar said while one new service will be launched in September, the other three will start operations in October.

Visakhapatnam-Hyderabad flight will leave Vizag at 9 a.m. on September 21. Visakhapatnam-Vijayawada service will begin on October 27, leaving Vizag every morning at 9:15 a.m. On the same day, the Visakhapatnam-Hyderabad flight will depart at 1 p.m. Further, there will be thrice-a-week flights from Visakhapatnam to Ahmedabad.
