Private security guards deployed at Jagan’s house in AP
Vijayawada: More than 30 private security personnel were deployed at the residence of YSRCP president and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in Tadepalli in Guntur district.
As Jagan Mohan Reddy’s party lost the Opposition party status because of getting less number of MLA seats during the recently conducted elections, the State government is providing security to him on par with an MLA. Clad in gray safari dress, the private security was allowed inside the house of Jagan from Monday onwards.
According to rules, an Opposition party status is given to a political party in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly after securing the second largest number of seats in the Assembly. In order to get formal recognition, the party must have at least 10 per cent of the total membership of the Legislative Assembly.
After the elections, the Telugu Desam Party won 135 seats, while the Jana Sena bagged 21 seats and YSRCP got 11 seats after contesting elections on May 13, 2024. The BJP got eight seats.
