Vijayawada: Former minister and YSRC leader Ambati Rambabu has termed the government’s decision to withdraw CID appeals in the Margadarsi Chits case as a clear example of quid pro quo.

Speaking to the media at the party’s central officer here on Friday, he said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s main objective was to protect Ramoji Rao family’s interests and their businesses.

Rambabu described Ramoji Rao as a “white-collar criminal” involved in various financial irregularities. He questioned the legality of the case withdrawal, stating that it was intended to shield Ramoji Rao’s empire from legal scrutiny.

Rambabu said he would pursue legal action against this quid pro quo. He also criticised the Telugu Desam government for focusing on the interests of those who supported them in the 2024 elections rather than fulfilling their promises made to the public.

With regard to the defection of MPs, Rambabu said Naidu’s entire political career has been marked by “buying and selling political leaders.” He noted that defections among MPs are not new.

He emphasised that the YSRC’s voter base remains strong and undisturbed at 40 per cent regardless of how many party members switch sides.

Referring to the Kadambari Jethwani case, Rambabu has expressed concern over the government’s actions, comparing their strategy to “attempting an impossible task with a flawed approach.”
