Rare Stomach Cancer Operation in Anantapur
Anantapur: Doctors at KIMS Saveera Hospital in Anantapur have successfully operated on a 50-year-old woman suffering with stomach cancer.
G. Chikkamma from Yathakal village in Settur mandal was experiencing severe gas, loss of appetite and weighed just 30 kg when she first arrived at the hospital.
“After conducting endoscopy, ultrasound, and CT scans, we diagnosed her with stomach cancer. We removed the stomach entirely, there was no need for chemotherapy or radiation. After a week in the hospital, she was discharged without complications,” consultant surgical gastroenterologist Dr. N. Mahammad Shahid told the media on Tuesday.
Dr. Shahid said globally gastric cancers are among the most complex types of cancers. Annually, around 1 million such cases are detected worldwide.
