Vijayawada: The CPM Andhra Pradesh committee has demanded the immediate withdrawal of a government order (GO) raising ticket prices for benefit shows and allowing extra shows for new films during the Sankranti festival.

CPM state secretary V. Srinivas Rao criticised the government, arguing that benefit shows are intended for social welfare, not profiteering. He stated the price hikes exploit moviegoers' goodwill and called for a uniform ticket pricing policy to avoid disadvantaging smaller films.

Srinivas Rao urged the government to allocate any additional revenue from such hikes to social programmes and ensure fair practices that benefit fans and independent producers. The CPI(M) reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the interests of film enthusiasts.
