Vijayawada: Seven persons suffered injuries when two groups clashed over allotment of a ration shop at Dhulipalla in Sattenapalli Rural of Palnadu district on Thursday night.

According to police, two men, both associated with Telugu Desam Party, had been competing for bagging the dealership of the ration shop being allotted to the village.

On Thursday, in presence of their supporters, the two started arguing about who would run the ration shop better. The arguments led to fisticuffs that resulted in seven persons belonging to both the groups suffering injuries.

They were immediately shifted to the Guntur Government Hospital for medical treatment.

Both the groups have lodged complaints against each other with the police, who have taken up an inquiry.
