Singapore Red Cross aid to flood victims

Vijayawada:Recognising the hardships faced by victims of the recent floods in Andhra Pradesh, especially in Vijayawada, Krishna, and Eluru districts, the Singapore Red Cross has offered assistance to those who lost their belongings due to floodwaters that remained stagnant for 10 to 15 days.

In consultation with the Andhra Pradesh state branch of the Indian Red Cross Society, the Singapore Red Cross has committed to providing blankets, mosquito nets, and towels to 3,000 families. Satyanarayana Mylavarapu, the representative of the Singapore Red Cross, visited flood-affected villages in the NTR, Krishna, and Eluru districts and distributed aid to the affected families.

He noted that the Singapore Red Cross also provided a significant number of oxygen concentrators to India during the Covid-19 pandemic. B.V.S. Kumar, state coordinator for Red Cross Blood Banks and Projects in Andhra Pradesh, accompanied the Singapore team, explaining the damages caused by the recent floods and detailing the rescue and rehabilitation efforts undertaken by the AP Red Cross. Annamma, Coordinator for Disaster Management, and Madhu Babu, in charge of Youth and Junior Red Cross, also participated in the efforts.
