Tirupati: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged ghee adulteration in the Tirumala laddu temporarily stopped its investigations on Monday.

This decision was announced by DGP Dwaraka Tirumala Rao in Tirumala on Tuesday. He said, “The investigation will remain on hold as the case is currently under review by the Supreme Court. The next hearing is set for October 3.”

The halt to the probe follows advice from the AP government’s legal counsel and critical observations from the Supreme Court on the way the state government handled the matter.

The DGP said the next steps in the investigation will depend on the Supreme Court’s decision as to whether an independent inquiry is needed.
