Vijayawada: A meeting of the sub-committee on land allotment to institutions in Amaravati concluded on Friday, with discussions focusing on the allocation of land to various organisations.
The meeting was led by urban development minister P Narayana and finance minister Payyavula Keshav. The sub-committee would present a report on the cancellation of tenders for Amaravati projects.
Narayana told the media that the committee reviewed the land allocations made to different institutions in the past and the extent of land provided to each. The committee directed CRDA (Capital Region Development Authority) officials to engage in discussions with the organisations that had previously been allotted land.
The minister said many organisations that were allocated land during the YSRC government’s tenure did not begin construction. However, with a change of government, trust has been restored. These organisations are now committed to go ahead with their plans. Some of the Amaravati construction projects that had been stalled would now be revived.
Narayana said the sub-committee would present a report on the cancellation of tenders for the Amaravati projects that had been abandoned midway. This report would be submitted for approval at the next cabinet meeting. After approval, the committee would issue re-tenders for those projects.
Finance minister Payyavula Keshav stressed the government’s plan to speed up construction works in Amaravati. He said the government would hold discussions with the organisations that got land previously, to ensure that they begin construction at the earliest. The sub-committee would meet once every ten days to monitor the progress and address issues that may arise.
