Tirupati district administration donates Rs 84 lakh for flood relief

TIRUPATI: For the relief operations in the flood-affected at Vijayawada and other parts of Andhra Pradesh, the Tirupati district administration has donated a total of ₹84,50,193. District collector Dr S. Venkateswar has mobilised funds from various sections of society for this effort.
In a media interaction held at the Tirupati Collectorate on Wednesday, the collector said he had donated half of his monthly salary to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF), inspiring several others to make the donations. Thus, a total of Rs 57,48,408 has been deposited into the CMRF on behalf of the district administration. The remaining amount was mobilised from private organisations and individuals.
The collector expressed his gratitude to the donors, who included the officers from the all-India services, local government employees, educational institutions, industries and the general public. Notable contributions include
Rs 27,01,760 from students of Narayana Educational Institutions.
Additionally, various private sector entities like Sri City, Srikalahasti Electrosteel Company and Apollo Tyres have contributed generously. Items worth Rs 24,30,500, including water bottles, milk packets, biscuits and candles were sent to Vijayawada for the flood victims, the collector said. Any voluntary contribution, either through cheque or bank transfer, would be directed to the CMRF to bolster relief initiatives, he added.
