Tribals take part in Vara Mahalakshmi fete at Srisailam

Anantapur: The Srisailam temple authorities on Friday performed Vara Mahalakshmi pooja with 1,500 women, mainly with chenchus (tribals), at Chandravathi Kalyanamanadam in Srisailam on the occasion of fourth holy Sravana Sukravaram.
As part of dharma pracharam, chenchus of surrounding traibal areas of Nallamala forest who pray Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy and Goddess Bramarambika in the Vara Mahalakshmi Vratham are included every year.
Tribal women from Atmakur, Bandi Atmakur, Srisailam, Allagadda, Palnadu,Veldurthi, Durgi, Dornala and Yerragondapalem areas were part of the fete. On the occasion of last Friday of holy Shravarana masam, about 900 tribal women and 600 other women devotees were accommodated for mass poojas at Chandravathi Kalyanamandapam.
The temple authorities led by Srisailam temple EO D Peddi Raju, AEO Haridas participated in the puja. The ITDA teams identified the tribal devotees and facilitated them.
After the Vara Mahalakshmi Vratham, the temple authorities offered sari, blouse, kankanam and prsadam to all devotees. The Srisailam temple authorities arranged LED screens on the temple premises.
