TTD EO says sufficient water available for Tirumala

Tirupati: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) executive officer J. Syamala Rao assured that all necessary measures are being initiated to improve drinking water supply at Tirumala, so that devotees are not inconvenienced.

Addressing media at the Annamaiah Bhavan on Saturday, he said the total water availability at Kumaradhara, Pasupudhara, Akashaganga, Gogarbha Dam and Papavinasam is 4,592 lakh gallons. At Kalyani Dam, which supplies drinking water to both Tirupati and Tirumala, the availability of water is 5608 lakh gallons.

The TTD EO said water availability is adequate for the next 130 days or till December 31, 2024, including for the Brahmotsavam.

Following the discussions Syamala Rao held with Tirupati municipal commissioner and Somasila project superintendent engineer, 25 lakh gallons of water will be supplied to Tirumala daily from Kalyani Dam from Monday.

The TTD executive officer said water level in Kalyani dam and Kailasagiri reservoir are expected to improve with rainfall in October, November and December.

The TTD trust board has sanctioned Rs 40 crore for laying additional pipelines from Kailasagiri reservoir to augment water supply within the Tirupati municipal corporation area. Besides, 10 MLD of water will be provided to meet the needs of Tirumala.
