TV Rajesh Kumar Inspects Jail Legal Aid Clinics in Vizianagaram

Visakhapatnam: Additional Senior Civil Judge of Vizianagaram district and Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, TV Rajesh Kumar, visited Vizianagaram Sub-Jail on Saturday and organised a legal knowledge seminar for the prisoners.

After educating the inmates on their rights, the senior judge inquired about elderly and sick prisoners aged over 70. The Superintendent of the sub-jail reported that there were no such prisoners. The judge also inspected the Jail Legal Aid Clinics operating on the premises.

He enquired about the functioning of the clinics, including the roles of lawyers and paralegal volunteers. The judge stressed that Jail Legal Aid Clinics should continue to provide timely legal aid to the accused. He also emphasised the importance of the District Legal Services Authority in ensuring no accused person in remand is left without legal representation. The judge visited the kitchen, dining hall, storeroom, and toilets during his inspection.
