VIJAYAWADA: Chirala rural police have arrested two individuals, Buddhapu Kishore (33) and Dasari Rambabu (43), for stealing agricultural pump motors and cattle in Chirala and nearby areas. On Friday, authorities seized 13 electrical water motor pump sets, two buffaloes, and two buffalo calves, valued at Rs 2.57 lakh, from their possession.

Chirala rural Circle Inspector Seshagiri Rao reported that following a rise in thefts, Bapatla DSP Jagadeesh Nayak formed two special teams to investigate. Acting on a tip-off, police raided Thotavaaripalem village on October 31, apprehending the suspects at Kunderu culvert. The accused, who had a history of addiction, stole motor pumps and buffaloes during the night using an auto or Mahindra Bolero. Bapatla SP Tushar Dudi commended the team for their efforts in recovering the stolen property.
