Vijayawada: YSRC leaders are deserting the party. Early in the day, former minister and senior YSRC leader Avanti Srinivas has resigned from all positions in the party. In the next few hours, another leader Grandhi Srinivas also quit the party.

Though Srinivas said that he was quitting the party due to personal reasons, it is being believed that there was some internal issue in the party that led to the resignation.

Avanti's move comes as a shock to the party as he never expressed dissatisfaction with the party boss and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Despite enjoying key roles in the party, Avanti Srinivas could have lost interest in continuing with the party following the humiliating defeat in the Assembly elections.

He remained away from the party activities for the last few months raising to speculations that he could leave the YSRC.

Grandhi Srinivas became prominent in the political circles after defeating Jana Sena chief K. Pawan Kalyan in Bhimavaram constituency in the 2019 polls. He played a prominent role in the constituency for the next five years.

In the next elections held in 2024, Grandhi lost to a JSP candidate.

Since then, Grandhi remained inconspicuous and finally, he put in his papers this morning.

The resignation of two senior leaders on the same day, after several others in the last few months could spell a crisis period for the YSRC.
