Undavalli water plant to run 24/7

Vijayawada: Commissioner of Guntur Municipal Corporation Puli Srinivasulu on Sunday ordered engineering officials to keep the Undavalli Raw Water Pump House running throughout the day to ensure adequate drinking water supply to Guntur city.
Srinivasulu inspected the raw water supply plant and reservoirs in Undavalli on the banks of Krishna river adjacent to Prakasam Barrage and issued instructions to the engineering officials.
The commissioner enquired about the capacity of the motors at the plant, the amount of water being pumped to Guntur city everyday, the water levels at Prakasam Barrage and the staff roster.
Srinivasulu said the pumping centre should work 24 hours a day and in addition to the existing motors, one motor should be kept on stand-by.
He further instructed that the staff should always be alert and informed about water storage in the barrage from time-to-time and the CCTV cameras should be installed in the vicinity of the plant.
SE Shyam Sundar, EE Srinivas, DEE Sridhar, and Guntur City Rate Payers Association president Narayana Reddy participated in the programme.
