Velugonda project to be completed during TD's regime: Gottipati

Kurnool: Energy minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar announced on Monday that the long-awaited Velugonda Project will be completed during the tenure of the Telugu Desam government. During his visit to the Kanigiri constituency on Monday, he highlighted several initiatives undertaken within the first 100 days of the alliance government.
Speaking at a public gathering, the minister reassured people about measures being taken to address persistent agricultural and drinking water issues in the region. He said theirs is a people's government that prioritises welfare and ensures that the benefits reach every household.
The Minister inaugurated a 33/11 kV electric substation in Chakirala Gram Panchayat, funded with an investment of Rs 3 crore. MLA Dr Mukku Ugra Narasimha Reddy joined the minister in planting saplings on the substation premises. He said one of the important decisions made by the TD government was the repeal of the Land Titling Act, aimed at providing security and assurance to farmers regarding their land ownership. He emphasised the government's dedication to addressing farmers' issues, citing the reinstatement of 175 Anna Canteens designed to alleviate hunger among the underprivileged.
The minister also focused on resolving electrical issues faced by farmers in the Kanigiri region, announcing a Rs. 70 crore investment to expedite electric works under the RDS scheme. He acknowledged local farmers' demands for new substations and assured them that these requests would be prioritised.In light of a tragic incident where three persons lost their lives due to a broken electric line, the minister expressed his condolences and revealed that he has engaged with the electricity department to ensure that compensation reaches the families swiftly and that measures are being implemented to prevent similar occurrences. He presented cheques of Rs. 5 lakhs each to the bereaved families. The minister handed over appointment letters to six shift operators during the programme. RDO John Orwin and others participated.
