Visakhapatnam: The special judge for trial of offences of POCSO-Act court in Vizianagaram, K. Nagamani on Friday convicted and sentenced a 34-year-old G. Gopi to 20-years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl in 2018. The judge also slapped a fine of Rs 11,500 on the convict.

The police said that Gopi, a native of Gantyada mandal in Vizianagaram district kidnaped the victim girl when she was returning from the school in S. Kota mandal in the district. He took her to an isolated place on his bike and sexually assaulted her in November 2018. Based on the complaint from the victim girl’s mother, the police have registered a case against Gopi and completed the investigation procedure and filed the charge sheet.

After regular hearings, the judge pronounced 20-years rigorous imprisonment to Gopi.
