Kanithi Pavan Teja, also known as Pavan, was sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment on Friday by Chief Metropolitan Magistrate M. Pradeep Kumar. He was also fined `10,000 (with a three-month jail term in case of non-payment) for a nighttime house break-in and theft.

The incident occurred in Arilova, Visakhapatnam, on December 7, 2021. According to APP Mylapilli Adinarayana, the victim, Nadigatla Yellajirao, and his family were away on a trip to Araku when Pavan allegedly broke into their SKML Nagar home.
He stole gold bangles, a gold chain, and `14,500 in cash. Upon returning home the next day, Yellajirao reported the crime to the Arilova Crime Police Station.
An investigation ensued, leading to the filing of a chargesheet against Pavan. The prosecution, led by APP Adinarayana, successfully presented evidence proving the case beyond a reasonable doubt under Sections 457 (house-break in the night), 380 (theft), and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the Indian Penal Code.
