Vizag Police Recover Rs 60 lakh Worth of Stolen property in August

VISHAKHAPATNAM: Visakhapatnam city police commissioner Sankabrata Bagchi, in a press conference held on Tuesday, briefed the media about the property crime recovery during August 2024. He stated that city police detected 89 property offence cases and recovered stolen property worth Rs 60,62,100.

A total of 112 cases were reported across the city in August under various property offences. Special investigation teams were formed and arrested 80 offenders involved in crimes such as robbery, housebreaking (both day and night), snatching, vehicle theft and other types of theft. In total, property worth Rs 22,37,600 and 255 stolen mobile phones worth Rs 38,25,000 were recovered.
In addition to solving cases, the Visakhapatnam police took preventive measures throughout the month. A total of 554 CCTV cameras were installed in different parts of the city to enhance surveillance, particularly in crime-prone areas. The Crime Wing has conducted 233 crime awareness meetings to educate the public on crime prevention and the importance of CCTV installation.
The police also launched special night patrols in vulnerable areas and recovered 255 stolen mobile phones through the CHATBOT and CEIR platforms, bringing the total number of recovered mobile phones to 3,207, valued at Rs 4.81 crore.
