Vizianagaram Police Bust Ganja Smuggling Ring

 Visakhapatnam: The Vizianagaram rural city police, acting on a tip-off on ganja smuggling, took swift action and arrested three men-- Mohd Waseem, 34, (A1), Infroz Alam, 29, (A2) and Ruquaiya Kursheed, 35, (A3).

The police caught the suspects when they were packaging ganja at a villa and confiscated 22.7 kilograms of the drug along with various packaging materials.

Further probe into the case revealed Mohd Waseem, originally from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, had formed a partnership with Md Kabber from south Delhi. The duo aimed to make quick money and decided to engage in transportation of ganja from Andhra Pradesh and Odisha to Delhi.

They initiated their business with Majji Vishwanadham and his wife, Majji Gangamma from Araku valley, agreeing to pay them Rs 3,500 per kilogram of ganja.

Majji Vishwanadham and his wife would procure ganja from Odisha and supply it to Md. Waseem, who was living in a rented house in Vizianagaram. The drug was transported to Md. Waseem by Golluri Anil, Govind and Gopi from Araku agency area.

Waseem would then collect large quantities of ganja and package it into smaller packets and Kabber would send different couriers to Md. Waseem to transport the drug from Vizianagaram to Delhi, paying each courier Rs 10,000 per trip, excluding their food and travel expenses.

Kabber would also pay Waseem Rs 1,500 per kilogram for packaging and assisting with the transportation. Payments were made directly into the bank accounts of Majji Viswanadham and his wife from Delhi.

Gudivada Police Seize 6.30 kg Ganja from Minor

The Gudivada rural police arrested a minor boy and seized 6.30 kg of ganja from his possession. Acting on a tip-off, SI Chanti Babu and his team, under the supervision of Gudivada CCS CI E Ramanamma and Gudivada rural CI SLR Someshwar Rao, raided the outskirts of Srikalahasti colony on Monday evening.

They took the accused, a resident of Dronadula street in Gudivada town, into custody in the presence of Gudivada tahsildar at old BSNL cell tower on Dondapadu road and seized 6.30 kg of ganja from his possession.

The police said the other two accused escaped from the spot. The seized ganja was purchased from Paderu agency area.

A case has been registered, and the minor has been shifted to a juvenile home. Gudivada Rural CI S.L.R. Someshwar Rao, who is investigating the case, has formed two special teams to arrest the remaining two accused. Someshwar Rao warned that rowdy sheets would be opened against individuals involved in illegal sale and smuggling of ganja and other prohibited drugs.
