VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday described Telugu Desam Party as a political university that has groomed many leaders to reach people.

Speaking after inaugurating TD’s massive membership programme at the party’s headquarters in Mangalagiri on Saturday, he declared that entire Telugu community across the globe got prominent recognition after the formation of the Telugu Desam Party.

The CM pointed out that all the senior leaders in the two Telugu states have roots in the TD. He promised party activists to legally resolve all false cases registered against them. “Please do not make rounds to meet me. Instead, reach the people at the grassroots and help them. Only those who work hard in this direction will get proper recognition," he maintained.

At the outset, Chandrababu Naidu re-enrolled himself as a member of the party. He received the membership card from Palla Srinivasa Rao, president of the state unit of the party.

He consoled the family members of those TD workers who had died in various attacks by YSRC leaders. He underlined that it is the Telugu Desam Party that has introduced an insurance system for party members in the country. “With ₹100 as membership fee, a member will be eligible for an insurance claim of ₹5 lakh,” he explained.

He said TDP has always encouraged the downtrodden sections of the society. It has given opportunity to educated youth to become members of the assembly and parliament. "Ours is the only party that conducts special classes for activists. We always strived hard to promote activists as leaders," he observed.

The Chief Minister asserted that Telugu Desam Party is a totally different outfit compared to others. He recalled that the party had played the role of major opposition in parliament. It had successfully overcome various challenges and troubles during the past four decades.

Chandrababu Naidu referred to several leaders who had passed comments that the time of TD is over. “The fact is that the time of persons who passed these comments is over. We have exhibited our strength in the recent elections in the state. It is the combined victory of the TD, the Jana Sena and the BJP, which fought the polls jointly," he pointed out.

The CM said as promised, free cooking gas refills will be given from Diwali.
