Woman Commission member directs Eluru SP to book class X student under POCSO case for raping fellow girl student
Vijayawada: The state Mahila Commission has taken serious cognizance of a sexual harassment case involving a Class X boy, a girl student and four other students.
The Mahila Commission member Gajjala Venkata Lakshmi directed the Eluru SP to book a POCSO Act case against the accused.
As per the complaint, the class X student sexually assaulted his fellow girl student in the classroom when she came to collect her marks card. While he raped the girl, four other youths recorded the act on a mobile phone and threatened the victim that they would share the video on social media.
The incident took place in Mandavalli Mandal in Kaikaluru of Eluru district. It came to light when the victim’s mother complained to the police.
Gajjala Venkata Lakshmi assured the victim’s mother of full support from the government. She asked the police to treat the victim well and shift her to a shelter home.
Lakshmi urged the Election Commission to relax the restrictions imposed on the mahila commission and allow it to take action against the perpetrators.
