Vijayawada: Marking a first in the Andhra Pradesh police department, women police constables will soon be operating drones for efficient traffic management, crime prevention and public safety.
Police commissioner S.V. Rajasekhar Babu is leading the drone technology initiative to effectively manage live traffic, reduce congestion, prevent eve-teasing, and combat illegal activities, such as sand smuggling and drug trafficking.
These drones will provide real-time overview of large areas, enabling faster response and efficient law enforcement.
Rajasekhar Babu visited the Police Command Control Centre on Friday to check out how women constables are being trained in drone operations. He offered feedback to increase efficiency, while praising officers for their commitment towards efficient policing.
The training programme includes thorough training in operating drone cameras, equipping women constables with skills to utilise modern technology, and empowering them in enforcing law and order.
Deputy commissioner of police Gautami Shali and inspector Hanish were among those present on the occasion.
