Vijayawada: Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan alleged that the previous government misused Rs 4,000 crore in the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission.

The officials laid the pipelines without identifying from where the water would be sourced.

Pawan Kalyan was speaking at the Jal Jeevan Mission state-level workshop held by the Rural Water Supply and Sanitary departments in Vijayawada.

The Deputy CM said that their government had urged the Union Minister CR Patil to sanction Rs 70,000 crores for the Jal Jeevan Mission, after coming to power. The Union Minister asked officials to submit the detailed project report (DPR).

"The DPR would be submitted to the Union Minister by the end of January.

The Jal Jeevan Mission would be strengthened. Priority would be given for resolving the drinking water problem. Modi has a dream to supply 55 lt of water on an average to every individual. The Mission was launched with an aim to supply water to every body continuously," Pawan Kalyan said.
