Visakhapatnam: YSRC State Women's President Varudu Kalyani has called for an immediate apology from Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, and Home Minister Anitha over their pre-election claims about women trafficking in the state.

The demand comes after recent Assembly proceedings revealed only 34 registered trafficking cases involving 46 victims, contradicting the alliance leaders' earlier allegations that over 35,000 women had disappeared during the previous YSRC government.

"The alliance leaders deliberately spread misinformation about volunteers trafficking women out of the state for political gain," she said. She highlighted that the Union Home Department had previously confirmed a 99% protection rate for women during the Jagan administration.

She also criticized the current government's handling of women's safety issues, citing recent incidents including a teacher's assault on a student's mother in Vizianagaram, harassment of an RTC female conductor, and an attack on a young woman in Pedagantyada. She expressed particular concern over the deactivation of the Disha app, a women's safety application implemented by the previous government.
