Vijayawada: Telugu Desam MLC Bhoomireddy Ramgopal Reddy stated that the YSRC leaders’ decision to withdraw from the Graduate MLC elections reflects their acknowledgment of an impending defeat due to waning public support. Speaking at a press conference at the TDP central office in Mangalagiri, Reddy discussed the political implications of this withdrawal.
“The YSRC leaders have essentially conceded defeat by opting out of the Graduate MLC elections,” Reddy remarked. He criticised the ruling party, alleging that democratic principles have been eroded under YSRC rule, with opposition members subjected to harassment, violence, and public humiliation. He described these incidents as “unforgettable.”Reddy further argued that the YSRC’s withdrawal reveals their "fear and panic" over the election outcome. "The narrative that free election conditions do not exist is purely fictitious. It’s widely recognized that democracy is failing in this state, yet they claim otherwise, which is laughable,” he asserted.MLC Ramgopal Reddy assured that the coalition government is committed to facilitating a fair election process and providing necessary resources for a democratic election, countering YSRC's claims of an unfavorable election environment. “The coalition government is prepared to ensure peaceful and transparent elections. Their withdrawal stems from misguided thinking, especially given that previous YSRC-led elections have seen intimidation and malpractice,” Reddy concluded.
