Zika virus raises alarm in Nellore district

Amaravati: A six-year-old boy from Venkatapuram village in Marripadu mandal, Nellore district, is suspected of contracting the Zika virus. The boy's deteriorating health has sparked concerns among the local community.

Following the news, the villagers are gripped by fear and anxiety. The boy was initially treated at a private hospital in Nellore, but as a definitive diagnosis couldn't be made, he was shifted to Chennai for further treatment. Despite ongoing treatment, blood samples have been sent to a renowned laboratory in Pune for a conclusive diagnosis. Authorities are awaiting the results.

As a precautionary measure, a medical camp has been set up in Venkatapuram village due to the suspected Zika virus case. The villagers are being educated about the virus and provided with necessary medications and treatments. The medical and health department officials have stated that they are taking all necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the Zika virus.
