Comi Calls for Unified Action Against Drug Abuse in Hyderabad Schools
Hyderabad: The Confederation of Minority Institutions (Comi) held a meeting on Sunday with school leaders from Hyderabad and Secunderabad, in a bid to combat the escalating threat of drug abuse among youth.
Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau Director Sandeep Shandilya called for stringent action against drug suppliers, particularly those targeting minors near educational institutions. He sought public cooperation, highlighting the role of teachers and principals in reporting such activities, with a confidential hotline provided for swift action.
He also spoke about the illegality of pan shops within a 1 km radius of schools and the severe consequences of selling intoxicants to minors.
Retired IPS officer S.A. Huda emphasised the urgency of safeguarding India's youth from the dangers of drugs, calling for a collective effort to halt production and supply, while Comi president M.S. Farooq appealed for unity among school leaders to ensure a drug-free environment for students, with a rally planned once a date is confirmed with the Chief Minister.
