CM Siddaramaiah Lays Foundation for International Cricket Stadium in Tumakuru

Bengaluru: A cricket stadium of international standard will come up in Tumakuru, about 70 km from Bengaluru city, on 50 acres and for its construction Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday laid foundation for the work to start.

“We have allocated 50 acres to the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) for the stadium construction,” said the Chief Minister while stating that KSCA has sought land for a cricket stadium in Mysuru. “We will provide land in Mysuru as well,” stated the Chief Minister.

The construction of a cricket stadium, Siddaramaiah said the project will significantly contribute to the economic growth and development of the region and asked the officials concerned to expeditiously complete the stadium at the earliest to fulfill the expectations of cricket enthusiasts.

Later at a function to launch various development works related to Tumakuru district, Chief Minister stated the State’s economic, growth has picked up pace owing to the launch of 5-guarantee schemes such as free power for a family up to 200 units a month, free travel for women in State-run buses, Rs 2,000 cash benefit scheme for a female head of a family among others and the programmes of the State Government has covered all sections of the society.

“Karnataka attained number 1 spot in Gross Domestic Product growth touching 10 percent while nation’s GDP has been at 8 percent,” said the Chief Minister and stated Karnataka stands second in attracting investments from abroad and also second highest contributor to the Central Government in the form of taxes.

The Chief Minister attributed the State’s economic growth to the contributions made by all sections of society.

Siddaramaiah said his government frames programmes keeping in mind people of all faiths and various sections of the society and such programmes of the State Government contributed to the economic growth of the State.

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Tumakuru district incharge and Minister for Home Dr G. Parameshwar among others were present.
