Karnataka: 19 candidates to contest Shiggaon assembly by-poll

Shiggaon: Out of 26 candidates who filed nominations for the upcoming Shiggaon Assembly constituency by-election, 19 candidates have had their nomination papers accepted. The scrutiny of nominations was conducted on October 28, revealing that out of the 46 nomination papers submitted, seven were rejected. The final day for candidates to withdraw their nominations is October 30.

Notable contenders include Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Bharath Basavaraj Bommai and Indian National Congress (INC) candidate Yasir Ahmed Khan Pathan. The Socialist Party (India) has put forth Khazamohiddin Gudageri, while Talawar Shivakumar represents the Hindustan Janata Party.

Ravi Krishna Reddy from Karnataka Rashtra Samithi and Shaukhatha Ali Bankapur from the Tippu Sultan Party are also in the race. Among the independent candidates accepted are Dr. G.H. Imrapur, Gurusiddagowda, Jitendra Kanavalli, Nabisab Allisab Mellegetti, Maktumsab Japarsab Mulla, Raju Anantsa Nayakwadi, Veerayya Odisuvamath, Shiddappa Hosalli, Shivaputra Shamarao Patil, Shankrappa Hulasogi, Srikanthgoud Polisgoudra, Satappa Neelappa Desai, and Sayyad Ajeempir Sayyad Khadarbasha Khadri.

The nomination papers of Sachin Kumar Karjekannavar from the Uttama Prajakeeya Party, along with independents Shamachari Kammar, Umesh Daivajna, G. Anjankumar, Manjunath Kunnur, Lalasab Nadaf, and Ambrose Mello, were rejected.
